Steps Forward in Security, Cooperation and Governance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

In July, Google Workspace released a series of important updates to improve the user experience and make workflows more efficient. These updates range from a better understanding of security policies to the re-registration of Google Meet devices. <\/p>\n\n

Increased Transparency in Security Policies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Google has started to provide users with more information about the security policies applied to documents, spreadsheets, presentations or files. Users will now see a centralized description of which actions are restricted, such as downloading, copying or external sharing. This gives users a clearer understanding of what actions they cannot perform due to security policies. <\/p>\n\n

Improvements to the Process for Re-enrolling Google Meet Devices<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The process for re-registering Google Meet hardware devices has been made more intuitive for admins. Previously, when a device was re-enrolled without being retired first, the Admin console would reuse the existing enrollment and device ID. But starting July 17, 2024, when a device is re-registered without first retiring it, the Admin console will create an entirely new record with a new device ID. This change will simplify device management and avoid confusion. <\/p>\n\n

Other Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Other updates to Google Workspace in July include support for full HD (1080p) video recording in Google Meet meetings and faster and smarter typing suggestions in Google Docs.<\/p>\n\n
